Cultural Diversity of Population
The Battlefords region is a predominantly English speaking area. The second most common language spoken is Cree. There are a number of French speaking individuals as well and French Immersion is taught at a number of schools in the area.
The community has a high proportion of Aboriginal residents with 18.6% of the total population according to the 2001 Census.
Although original settlers were primarily English or Ukrainian, most of the Battlefords population identify themselves as Canadian born. There are a number of immigrants, although immigration makes up a very small proportion of the total population.

The Battlefords enjoys a young population (combined median age of 36.8). A very high percentage of the population is aged 19 and under (28.1%).
